Delivering packs, pencils and promise to children around the globe
It is back-to-school season and we need your help!
GBP is supporting the education of 650 girls and boys of Bwetyaaba Primary School in rural Uganda. 95% of these children are orphaned or vulnerable youth who don't have the resources to purchase the required backpacks, uniforms and school supplies needed to attend school. Without these basic supplies, many children are unable to attend school or will drop out altogether. Research shows that an education is the single most effective way to escape the cycle of poverty.
Through the month of August, Global Backpack Project aims to raise $4000 from 50 supporters through an open challenge on GlobalGiving.org. This is an ambitious challenge for our grassroots organization, so we hope you will help by spreading the word about this project.
$20 Makes a Difference
Every dollar goes a long way at Global Backpack Project. Our organization is run entirely by volunteers, so your donation goes directly to children in need. A donation of $20 will provide one child with a sturdy new backpack, uniform and school supplies.
Children all over the world face challenges to accessing education, including right here in our own neighborhood. GBP is proud to partner with local organizations to help at-risk children and youth feel prepared for the beginning of school this fall.

You can directly impact the life of a child by donating a new backpack with school supplies to Global Backpack Project today. Donations are gladly accepted at Indigo Traders, 7878 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland, OR 97219.
Get Involved
Host your own backpack drive. Make your birthday party a backpack party. Host a backyard potluck and ask guests to bring a backpack. Turn your annual summer party into a backpack drive to help children in Portland and around the globe feel prepared for school. Involve your friends, church, sports team, book club, school, cooking group, college group, co-workers and family.
Host a Party
1. Choose a name for your party or group.
2. Set the date, plan the party and invite your guests.
3. Post your party details on GBP's Facebook page.
4. Ask guests to bring a backpack with school supplies or a $20 donation to Global Backpack Project.
5. Don't forget to have fun.
6. Contact us to arrange for delivery or pick-up of donations.
